Privacy Policy

By giving members access to fellow member contact information, they can correspond, arrange car pooling to meetings, and otherwise advance their genealogical research. Similarly, members are invited to send their family history research results to SARA with the understanding that this information will go into a database which may be used by other members for mutual genealogy benefit.

We do not sell this information to anyone. The information is made available to other members of SARA at no charge. This is in accordance with our Charter Bylaws. At the present time, all printings and mailings are done by SARA member volunteers. At some time in the future, we may provide mailing addresses to an outside firm hired to do printing and mailing of our publications. In any case, access to your private information is restricted to members and people required to handle your membership.

Some of your personal information may be posted on the internet. Access to this  information will require use of a password which is only given to members. However, it is the joint responsibility of members to safeguard the password.

SARA cannot be  responsible for the actions of individual members in protecting information they have obtained from SARA sources.

We may also provide your personal information to regulatory bodies if required by law. For example, the social security numbers of SARA Officers and Board of Director members are required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Social Security Numbers are neither requested from nor provided to members at large.
